A long time away!

So, where have I been and what have I been doing?

Living!  So many things happening. New extra-grandbabies, the loss of family members and pets, a change in the job scene for my husband and myself.

We started off the year with the passing of my father-in-law. It was a trying and stressful experience but he was home with family and love surrounding him. He passed on his own terms. I think we are all coping in our own way and mostly have gotten back to the everyday act of living.

My husband is now working at a local hobby store, selling Radio Control cars and planes. I started my own business as a Jamberry Nails Independent Consultant.   It has been fun to meet new ladies and of course I get to feed my Nail arts/polish addiction in another way.

One of our daughters moved out of state to Iowa and is loving her independence, although she is missing her friends from Minnesota.

Our older daughter is living in Philadelphia and working at a dealership as a service coordinator. She seems to be doing well.

Our son joined the Army National Guard for Minnesota and is working for a company doing security for Fed Ex. He enjoys it and is working on saving to move out with some of his friends. He is also wanting to get training on welding and forging.

I have put my knitting and crochet on hold for awhile while getting my business going. But I have a new extra grand baby on the way who needs a lovey blankie. I will need to dig it out soon. Also I've been wanting to whip up some more fingerless gloves. They are nice to wear over my stretch knit gloves for extra warmth and to cover my arms at work .

Feel free to share you favorite patterns. I am getting better at crochet, but knitting is still my forte.

More soon. I promise it won't be so long between times

Life in the tundra

Well,
I guess this blogging thing is more time consuming than I had thought.
Puppy training is going well, although I am not happy that we can't all get on the same page about things. Some of us want to teach her to jump up on command, and I think that is too confusing . She needs to know to stay down, always. We should come down to her level or sit down to make it easier to be petted etc.  Also she really needs to be learning to come. She is finally getting used to the harness and leash, although more practice is needed to get better and better.

On my needles, I am still working, slowly but surely on the Extra-Grandbaby blankie. We recently learned that it appears to be another girl.   How exciting, but that just means they keep trying for the elusive boy.

I started a book recently called "Changology". I am working on a big change in my call handling skills so I can earn more and do better at work. This will reduce some of my stress, which is always a good thing

Also, after a long winter's break from the gym, due to my husband's illness and pure laziness, My daughter and I will be going tonight. Gotta work back up to it slowly. My neck has been stiff for a few days, so we will probably take it kinda easy.

Another snow storm this past Tuesday and hopefully the last of the white wet stuff. Kids got a snow day, which is a rare thing for many school districts, especially ours.

I guess that will do for now. I will expound upon the next chapters of Changology later.

Blogging, puppies and blah, blah, blah

So, I've been thinking of my goals for my blog. I love to hear myself talk, so I thought blogging  would be a good outlet. I also wanted to share my insights and experiences, with marriage, child rearing, work, knitting , writing and any number of other things.
Then I got to thinking. "Will anyone want to read my thoughts and opinions?" I know some of my friends and family will, but what about people in general. Then I went looking through the different blogs that I have recently subscribed to and viewed lately. The subjects are varied and the opinions are not always what I would agree with, but the comments are interesting and it is always fun to see a little window into what other people are doing.

So, the blog continues.

I apologize in advance for boring you with my mundane life, but I hope my forays into wiring adventure, knitting projects and puppy raising, kid raising excitement will at the very least entertain you.

Our newest family member, Stormy, a 12 week old Weimaraner puppy has been growing like crazy and making us all crazy with her curiosity. She is doing pretty well with paper training and even has gone outdoors with the other dogs, but with the Minnesota winters, we've been mostly working on paper training for her. We've all forgotten how similar babies and puppies are. They need so much attention and tending. Our older dogs, Nessa and Bella, are doing well with the adjustment. I was worried about Nessa, as she is a bit aggressive. She was very good with Stormy and has basically taken on the role of the big sister. Bella, our older pug, mostly tolerates her, but has occasionally roused herself enough to play a little, a very rare occurrence for Bella. Nessa has been trying to get Bella to play for years.
The cats are the only casualties. The two brothers, Pete and Smokey have moved to the basement to avoid the rambunctious puppy. My old man, Pancho, still hangs out under the dining room table and uses the strength of his grumpiness to chase her away most times.
She is training us as we are training her.  Of course , your own experiences with puppy training are always welcome, so we can benefit from the knowledge of each others.

Finally Friday

Well, a crazy week came to a crazy end. Calls that lasted 20 minutes or more are not what I wanted to have when I started work this morning.  Gotta get my rhythm next week.

Plan to do up a new polish this weekend and work on some more of the blanket I am knitting. The main chore this weekend is going grocery shopping.

What is is about grocery shopping that feels so daunting?  I guess it is the fact that after spending several hours gathering all the items you have to bring them home and put them away.   That is when I wish I could be like Samantha from Bewitched and wiggle my nose, or blink things away, like Jeannie from I Dream of Jeannie. What magic power do you want to have?

Check out on of the cool nail polish sites I like. They are having a give away. One way to supplement my habit!

The snowy Monday blues

What a day! Monday, snowy commute, and lots of calls.  Sometimes you just don't want to get out of bed. Amazing that the obligations we have keep us doing exactly what we profess to not want to do.

What about you? Did you have a good Monday?

Got to spend the morning commute with my good friend Nicole. She is a wonderful young lady that I met on the bus a few years back. We've been good buddies ever since. She always has such a cheery disposition and a friendly word for people she meets. We all should strive to have a good attitude for our day.  I try to use her example in my daily life.

I am making a scarf for her as a second half of her Christmas present. While I adore knitting, my wrists and hands can't always take it for too long at a time, so I take my time on projects.  I am basically finished now, just need to get it packaged up and take it over to her house. I will have her model it and take some pics to share.

I will leave you with this thought!  Take each day as it comes and choose to have a smile to share with others, and your own day will be brighter.

A little bit about me

Hello All,
I'm new to this blogging thing, but have been enjoying learning so many things from this wide world of internetness, that I thought I would join in.

I am a 44 year old mother of 3, with a house full of pets, an obsession with knitting, nail polish and writing. My favorite animals are zebras, lions and hippos, but mostly I just love animals. I was going to be a zoo keeper when I grew up, and with the 3 dogs, 4 cats, snake and chinchilla, and my daughter's rat and turtle, I'm just not getting paid to do it.

This blog will be my chance to share my writing and interests with a broader group of people and learn from them. Please feel free to give me advice and share your experiences with your comments, just don't be offended if I don't follow your advice. After all, experiencing something for yourself is the best way to learn.

Enough for now. I have some laundry waiting.
